LMUA Notice to Ratepayers: Sewer System Modernization Project

Lambertville Municipal Utility Authority

Notice to Ratepayers: Sewer System Modernization Project

Date: March 30, 2026

Subject: Important Information Regarding GIS Mapping of our Sewer System

Dear Ratepayers,

To ensure the long-term reliability and efficiency of our local infrastructure, the Lambertville Municipal Utilities Authority (LMUA) is beginning a comprehensive GIS (Geographic Information System) mapping project for the City’s sewer system.

What is GIS Mapping?

GIS mapping allows us to create a precise digital "twin" of our underground infrastructure. By converting older paper records into a modern digital format, we can better track the location, age, and condition of every pipe, manhole, and pump station in Lambertville.

Why is this project important?

  • Faster Repairs: Digital maps allow maintenance crews to pinpoint issues quickly, reducing response times for emergencies.
  • Preventative Maintenance: By tracking asset data, we can identify and replace aging pipes before they fail.
  • Future Planning: Modern mapping is essential for meeting state environmental standards and planning future resilience projects.

What to expect in your neighborhood:

Over the coming months, you may see authorized personnel and contractors from the Lambertville Municipal Utilities Authority working near manholes and in public rights-of-way.

  • No Service Interruptions: This is a data-collection phase only; your sewer service will not be interrupted.
  • Property Access: In most cases, work will be limited to public streets. If access to a utility easement on your property is required, a representative will attempt to notify you in advance.
  • Equipment: You may notice staff using handheld GPS devices or specialized cameras to document the system.

We appreciate your cooperation as we take this important step toward a more resilient and efficient Lambertville. For updates or questions, please visit the LMUA website: www.lambertvillemua.com or contact our office at 609-397-1496.

Sincerely,

Michael Ingenito,
Executive Director
