Public Works Information
The Public Works Department does the hard work required to maintain and upgrade Lambertville’s infrastructure, keeping the City’s physical appearance beautiful and doing it in an environmentally-friendly way. This includes maintaining roads, storm sewers and parks, clearing snow and assisting during storms and flooding.
The Department also operates garbage disposal and single-stream recycling for the more than 3,800 residents in the City. Check the Schedule for days of your weekly pickup.
Each Monday (except for holidays) the city will pick up bulk trash on a per item basis. To review the fee schedule and to arrange for items to be picked up, please visit our Bulk Trash Request Form.
We no longer accept electronics of any type, nor any hazardous materials. Here are the schedules for the
County Solid Waste and Recycling Services:
Leaf/Lawn Bag Pickup
EXTRA AUTUMN PICKUPS! In November/December, Public Works will be doing extra leaf/lawn bag pickups. Once you have three bags, just place them out for collection. Public Works staff is doing extra routes and collecting bags when they see them.
Please take note: Leaf and lawn debris needs to be placed in compostable/biodegradable bags in order to be collected. Paper leaf bags are available at any local hardware store or grocery store. Since the paper bags decompose themselves, they contribute to the composting process of the leaf and lawn debris.
Plastic bags are not permitted (per City Ordinance No. 16-2013 § 12-1.9; amended 4-21-2022 by Ord. No. 05-2022). Lawn debris in plastic bags will not be collected.
Please avoid overstuffing paper leaf bags - they may tear, or become too heavy to be easily moved into the trucks.
Year-round leaf/lawn bags collection is on Thursdays (weather permitting).
To schedule a pickup, please call the Public Works Office at 609-397-0110 x31.
In a voicemail, leave your name, address, and number of bags to be collected. Bags will be picked up Thursday, provided the request is made before 10am the Wednesday before. (Requests made after 10am on Wednesdays will be picked up the following week).
Convenience Center Hours
The Convenience Center is open monthly on the first and third Saturdays from 9am to 12pm, and on the third Wednesday from 3pm to 5pm.
Residents are welcome to bring loose lawn waste and yard debris to be dropped off for composting. Paper lawn bags are not required - in fact they are not accepted - contents must be dumped into the compost pile at the yard.
The Street Sweeper is active from March through December.
