UPDATE: Congressional Tour, FEMA, Debris, Community Outreach, and more.

September 4, 2021,  2:00 PM

CITY HOURS:  City Hall remained open for several extra hours to accommodate the additional demand for services.

The office will close on Saturday, September 4th at 2:00 PM, and will reopen at 9:00 AM on Sunday, September 5th.

DISASTER RELIEF:  The City of Lambertville OEM team and City Council toured several of the most impacted parts of the city with US Senator Cory Booker, US Congressman Tom Malinowksi, and our NJ State Delegation.  This is the first step in making federal and state requests for individual and community-wide disaster relief funds.

FEMA assessors will be evaluating damage in our community throughout the day. This process is important for the City and residents to ultimately apply for damage relief.

STORM DEBRIS: The City is aware of the significant debris and the need for dumpsters and back loaded trucks. We have made requests to the Governor's office and the County for relief and are working to deliver dumpsters and trucks in the coming days.

While you are cleaning out debris from your home please separate "white debris" such as washers, dryers, or hot water heaters - do not throw any appliances (white debris) away; the City will be coordinating alternate disposal for those items. All household debris and vegetative matter does not need to be separated. We will work with residents to manage the debris once the trash trucks have been delivered. We understand that this is frustrating and we are doing everything in our power to address this issue quickly.

EMERGENCY IDA RELIEF FOR LAMBERTVILLE RESIDENTS (as of Saturday, 9/4)

FOOD, SUPPLIES, and CHILDCARE
There are four emergency relief stations set up throughout town for residents and volunteers, open 10:00-6:00 Saturday, 9/4 through Tuesday, 9/7. The relief station locations are located at:

  • Liberty Hall Pizza on N. Union Street
  • Lambertville Public School courtyard on Main Street (Via WAS PTO and the school district)
  • The Lambertville Free Public Library on S. Main and Lily Streets
  • Cavallo Park on S. Main at Mt. Hope (via LPS PTA and the school district)

Each site has fooddrinks, and information for residents. There is an emergency food pantry available in the LPS gym.

Drop-off childcare is available at Cavallo Park.

Supplies (clothing, cleaning supplies, etc.) can be picked up at the LPS relief station. If residents are not able to get to LPS or to transport supplies, volunteers at each site can help to coordinate delivery.

The library is a charging station.

Relief stations will send volunteers out into the community, offering food, water, information, and help with clean-up. Talk to volunteers to request help or delivery of supplies.

VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers are being coordinated using Lotsa Helping Hands Lambertville. Volunteers can sign up for shifts from 10-2 or 2-6 at any of the four relief stations, or sign-up for other volunteer tasks. Requests for help will be coordinated among the relief stations. Sign-up at https://my.lotsahelpinghands.com/request/select-email/lambertville-helping-hands

DONATIONS
Donations (food, supplies, etc.) can be made at the LPS relief station. However, given the amazing outpouring of generosity so far, please check with volunteer coordinators at LPS before buying or delivering donations so we can confirm that we can store it. Donations will be needed over time and we will be setting up longer term ways for people to help. Thank you for your generosity! Financial donations can be made via Venmo to Dina-Fanelli.

HOUSING SUPPORT
With support from the South Hunterdon Regional School District and the City of Lambertville, the American Red Cross is operating a shelter at the South Hunterdon Regional High School (301 Mt. Airy-Harbourton Road). The shelter will be open from Friday, 9/3 through at least Saturday, 9/4. The Red Cross will reassess the need for the shelter on Saturday based on usage. Social services will be provided by the Red Cross, Hunterdon County, and other providers as coordinated by the Red Cross. You can also access these services even if you don’t need a place to sleep - anyone with a disaster-related need can visit the shelter to be directed to the appropriate resources.
